Abstract: In the last several years ICTs have been widely viewed as the key to meeting development objectives. The introduction of Internet and related ICTs may well be viewed as a necessary component of the drive to fit into a globalizing knowledge and communication-based world society and economy. The global business community is a key source of scientific and technical knowledge and know-how, as well as the human and financial capital to tap the necessary resources for the sort of investments that can make a real impact on the world’s poor.
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh is the founder and Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International, the largest Arab group of professional service firms in the fields of accounting, management consulting, intellectual property, and digital knowledge - an affiliate of the World Bank Register of Accountants and Auditors (Washington) and the UN Center for Transnational Corporations (N.Y.). Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh also serves as Vice-Chair of the United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force.
