An honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters has been conferred on the President of the Arab Society of Certified Accountants, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh by the Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. The investiture ceremony took place on May 28, 1988 in Buffalo’s Memorial Auditorium in the presence of a number of distinguished invitees including the Board of Trustees, the faculty, staff, alumni and students of Canisius College.
 
In conferring the honor, the President of the College. Rev. James M. Demske said:
“Your outstanding career in business and accounting in the Arab world, including the foundation of the Arab Society of Certified Accountants, and your many contributions to education and international understanding, make you most deserving of this award”.

Canisius College is one of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. Founded in 1870 it has turned out eminent personalities and leaders in medicine, law, business and industry, education, religion and the arts, both at home and abroad.
 
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh also helped found the Arab Society for the Protection of Industrial Property (ASPIP) [of which he is currently the President of the Board] besides being the Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International, the leading accounting firm in the Arab world, which goes by his name.
