AMMAN - A training course held over the past couple of days by the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Professional Training Group on domain names concluded yesterday. Participating in the course were trainees from ministries, governmental and private institutions and companies.
 
The aim of the course was promoting awareness among the participants with the concept of domain names and registration procedures domestically and at both the Arab and international levels, in addition to modernizing a site on the internet and raising the awareness of the participants of the attempts to Arabize the internet and the efforts exerted in this field.
 
The lecturers focused on clarifying the difference between the traditional aspect of registering various intellectual property (IP) works, and the technological aspect of registering IP on the internet, in addition to explaining the disputes that arise relating to registering domain names and their similarity with trademarks registered for others or other website names already registered. They also discussed the parties that put solutions in place for these disputes through practical cases.
 
Also, the disparity between Arab states relating to the party that supervises site names was explained, and what each country accomplished in this field.
 

This course is part of a comprehensive training program that includes courses in accounting, auditing, IP, e-commerce, IT, internet and administration, licensing and technology transfer.
