AMMAN - The Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) board meetings concluded in Paris two days ago with the participation of heads from LESI and other national societies. The Licensing Executives Society –Arab Countries (LES-AC) was represented by Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, LES-AC's President, the representative of LESI in the Arab region.
The board discussed the message, goals and activities of the Society on the international scale in addition to prospective plans and educational programs where Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh raised a number of suggestions to the board which were discussed and specialized committees were designated to study the action plan. The suggestions can be summarized in the following points:
- Amending the name of the Society so as to reflect its goals and purposes which basically is concerned with the exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) commercially, technology transfer, developing national technology and all that is related with benefiting from IP. 
- Offering membership opportunities to concerned firms, institutions and governmental bodies, noting that the current system only allows for individual memberships.
- Accelerating the process application of the vocational qualification system where it would be possible to graduate competencies holding technology and IP management professional certificates and the transferal of all methods of communications and publications in addition to the quarterly magazine "Les Nouvelles" to the electronic system
- Cooperation with international companies and societies in the future through joint programs and activities to serve and achieve common purposes.
The Board also discussed the arrangements for LESI's Annual Conference to be held in Cairo on May 2004, and which will be the first conference of its kind to take place in the Arab region.
The conference will be held under the official guardianship of the Egyptian government with the organization of LES-AC, where approximately 1000 individuals from international bodies, LESI members, licensing and technology transfer experts as well as other interested parties from the Arab World and other countries are expected to participate.
It is known that the headquarters of LESI is in the United States with LES United States/Canada being the main force in the Arab region.
