AMMAN – The Arab Society for the Protection of Industrial Property (ASPIP), in collaboration with the German Patents Office, will hold a seminar on July 25, 1994 on the principles and bases that control industrial property protection. This seminar will be convened in Munich, Germany.

The seminar highlights the significance of having a comprehensive system for industrial property rights, since the existence of such system is considered a major prerequisite for effective and constructive competition, and an important tool in transferring advanced technologies between societies. Further, it is an instrument in encouraging nations to cooperate with one another technically and economically.

ASPIP aims to enhance the participants’ understanding of the significance of protecting intellectual property (IP), by presenting a comprehensive idea on the principles, bases and procedures that direct this type of activity.

Lecturing at the seminar will be Professor Eric Hoyser, President of the German Patents Office, and an elite group of German patent experts who will present comprehensive information to the participants on the administrative and legal aspects of IP protection.

The timing of this seminar coincides with the meetings of ASPIP’s general assembly, in addition to the meetings of the society’s board of directors. This will be the board of directors’ first meeting after the inaugural meeting which took place in Munich over 7 years ago, at the European Center for Industrial Property Protection, Scientific Research and Copyrights.

As for the German Patents Office, it enjoys strong relations with all European states in the field of industrial property protection. Since its inception after World War Two, it has received over 4.5 million patent applications, and reviewed an additional 1.5 million more.

There are firm ties between ASPIP and the German Patents Office, based on cooperation for their mutual interests.
