The Arab world’s leading specialist in the protection of Intellectual property rights, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh -who has helped draft legislation forseveral regional governments- will be among the world’s top international experts addressing the Gulf’s biggest-ever conference on the issue next month.
 
 
Mr.Abu-Ghazaleh, President of the Arab Society for the Protection of Industrial
Property (ASPIP) and the society’s consultative representative with both the United Nations and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, will deliver a key-note speech and chair a panel discussion at the two-day seminar in Dubai.
He has helped to devise trade mark, copyright and patent laws for the governments of the UAE, Yemen and Oman and one of his companies - TMP Agents, with 34 offices throughout the Arab world currently acts as consultant adviser to the UAE on implementation of its intellectual property rights legislation.
 
 
The conference - on Intellectual Property Rights In the Gulf Cooperation Council- will also be addressed by a senior executive from WIPO, the UAE Ministry of Information and Culture, the USA Consul-General In Dubai, the International Federation for the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the Business Software Association, Microsoft, Unilever, Glaxo, Mercedes Benz, Price Waterhouse and Clifford Chance and other leading experts in this increasingly vital field of world trade.
 
 
The seminar, organized by Infocenter International, in conjunction with Clifford Chance, is attracting bookings from across the Middle East.
It is being staged at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai on the 29th and 30th of May, reviewing the problems posed by copyright infringements in the past and the implication and effects of new legislation introduced by most countries in the region over recent years.
The theme of the seminar is: Protection of Intellectual Property rights in the GCC; who and what the law protects.
