TAG-Org Provides Youth with IT Skills Necessary for the Labor Market
AMMAN --- July 15, 2012 --- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge for Information Technology (TAG-Cambridge), member of the Talal Abu- Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), is providing IT courses to more than 100 young Jordanians in Southern Shouneh, Mafraq and Sahab from the Youth:Work Jordan (YWJ) Program to enhance their capacities and boost their employability. TAG Org has also equipped YWJ’s local implementing partners, Community- Based Organization, with a donation of around 40 computers for youth’s convenience and access

According to a recent study conducted by Youth:Work, it was evident that IT skills are a must for young job seekers. To address this growing need, TAG-Cambridge offered two distinctive programs to YWJ’s target group, one that focuses on general IT knowledge and a second that focuses on IT skills related to business. These trainings are offered under the supervision of specialized and experienced trainers After receiving the required training and passing the exam, students are awarded the Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge International Diploma in IT Skills accredited by University of Cambridge International Examinations.
Rana Al Turk, IYF Country Director, commended ongoing cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization saying that there is an increasing need to provide youth with IT training. “This is considered one of the main courses offered by the program that develops skills for youth on the professional, technical, language and entrepreneurship levels,” she stated.
Salah Abu-Osbeh, TAG-Org Executive Director of Professional Partnerships affirmed that under Chairman Talal Abu Ghazaleh’s leadership, TAG continues to support and endorse capacity building and rehabilitation programs. “We are very proud of our partnership with Youth:Work that falls within the Organization’s message, vision and its commitment towards corporate social responsibility,” he added.
Youth: Work Jordan currently operates in seven areas around the Kingdom; well-over half of the youth in these communities leave school before continuing grade 12. However, many of these young Jordanians are keen to develop their skills through informal training programs.
Youth: Work Jordan is a five-year initiative of the United States Agency for International Development, the International Youth Foundation, and the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development. Youth: Work Jordan is creating an enabling environment for disadvantaged youth, ages 15 to 24, through partnering with the public, private, and civil society sectors to improve services for youth who are out-of-school, unemployed, and lack opportunity.
