Restart! Where to?
Mapping the European Economy’s Future
After facing a slowdown in growth throughout the past years, signs of an economic recovery emerge in Europe. The 2005 conference will deal with the long term perspectives of the EU's economies,
taking a dual focus:

Outward perspective
What will be Europe's role in the international economic arena of tomorrow? Will it pose a real challenge to the US economic predominance? How should it approach the rising power of the emerging markets?

Inward perspective
European companies face a high degree of competition in their home markets, due to growing free trade and the European harmonization process. At the same time, many former markets of growth show signs of saturation. How can companies unlock further growth potential in developed markets, and where can they find new fields of growth?
Perspective Europe will discuss new concepts in the B2C and B2B area like "best in class customer value management" and "value based selling."

A warm welcome to the participants of the 11th European Management Conference in Paris, organized by Perspective Europe.
One year ago, the European Union welcomed ten new members. This enlargement, challenging not only from a political point of view but also in economic terms, is sharply reflected by the topic
"Restart, where to? Mapping the European Economy's Future." It underlines the synergies that the 25 European states have to create in order to remain competitive on the world stage. Even if the European economy is currently growing less strongly than the US or Asian economies, it undoubtedly has the assets to remain competitive
globally. Innovation is one area in which Europe excels.
Once again, the European Management Conference brings together highly qualified students from 44 different countries. It also welcomes
leading firms in the global economy. An impressive line-up of speakers will discuss different ways to approach the future of the European economy.
With "further perspectives," a new project has been introduced, enabling the sponsored participation of NGOs. I am convinced that it will help to deepen, enrich and even foster further discussion
of new ideas and concepts in the area of economic
development.
I would like to express my special thanks and congratulations to the team of Perspective Europe, an ESCP-EAP student organisation operating from their offices on the 5 campuses of the ESCP-EAP European School of Management.
They have led the European Management Conference since 1994. Once again they have demonstrated their ability to function as an internationally networking team, applying the skills and knowledge they developed while studying at ESCP-EAP European School of Management to deliver a major international conference.
We are very pleased that you have chosen to join us for three days at the European Management Conference and I am sure you will
enjoy the lively debate, workshops and evening events.

Dear guests,
On behalf of the organizing committee I would like to welcome you to Paris.

I am very glad that you decided to contribute to the 11th European Management Conference – as speaker, student or as a corporate participant within your company or organisation. It is you that makes this conference a special event.

I would like to invite you to participate actively in the debates and workshops and to challenge our speakers.

Specialists from around the globe and from different backgrounds will share with you their specific views and insights on the future of the European economy. I am convinced that the debates and speeches will inspire you and I hope that you will enjoy them.

For 11 years Perspective Europe has provided with the European Management Conference a platform for interesting debates on current
management issues. It offers further excellent networking and recruiting opportunities.

Striving for continuous improvement, Perspective Europe is proud to announce that from this year onwards, the agenda of the European Management Conference will be enriched by the "Further Perspectives" project.

In close collaboration with our long-term partner Brandicate Consultants, we want to show that the profit and non-profit sector are not mutually exclusive. Acknowledging the increasing importance
of NGOs and intergovernmental organisations, we would like to present an additional career perspective that exists alongside and often in cooperation with the corporate world.
Finally I would like to thank the entire Perspective Europe team in Paris, London, Madrid, Turin and Berlin for their extraordinary commitment and the hundreds of hours of spare time they have invested in this project.
The European Management Conference ranks amongst the most successful management conferences in Europe organised entirely by students. Let us all benefit from it and enjoy the upcoming three days.
With kind regards,

Uwe Gleitz
