KUWAIT CITY - Vice-Chair, United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force (UN ICT TF), Talal Abu-Ghazaleh has reiterated the essential need to put more emphasis on the issue of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), since it became one of the fundamental pillars of the world economy.
At the closing session of the International Conference of the Administrative Science Faculty organized by the University of Kuwait, entitled “Developing Countries and World Trade Organization (WTO): Realities and Future Challenges”, Abu-Ghazaleh addressed Arab politicians and businessmen who attended the meeting.
The two-day conference which was held under the patronage of the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, underlined issues of globalization, free trade system and the stand which the developing countries should take to benefit from such economic developments instead of being left behind.
“Regardless of all recent difficulties and obstacles, I still believe that the WTO is one of the most successful multi-purpose organizations in the entire world,” Abu-Ghazaleh said.
He believes that with the availability of a modern international services sector, well-advanced methods of communication and information technologies and the modernizing of education “we can have an influential role in the society of the world economy equal to others."
Abu-Ghazaleh called on the participants to work tirelessly to establish multi-networks in the fields of business, communications, and technical services to develop world economy.
