AMMAN (JT) — Officials, information technology entrepreneurs, bankers, businessmen and industrialists as well as education leaders will discuss the country's future in e-government, e-business and e-learning at a three-day conference to start on Monday.
The e-Jordan Conference, hosted by the Amman Private University (Al Ahliya Amman University) will produce a national paper seeking to implement the recommendations of specialised technical committees. His Majesty King Abdullah will act as patron of the event.
Ten subcommittees, each dealing with different issues from payment gateways to system integration, from human capital development to regulatory framework, are to take stock of Jordan's achievements in the electronic revolution, assess international experiences, and develop recommendations.
“Each subcommittee has proposed an action plan, which states deliverables itemised against time schedules and details of any prerequisites or consultancy services that might be required,” the organisers said in a statement on Saturday.
The conference is expected to open with remarks by Al Ahlyia Amman University President Amin Mahmoud, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Minister Fawaz Zu'bi, UN ICT Task Force member Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Jordan Telecom CEO Pierre Mattei, and Dubai e-government Team Director Salem Shair.
