The Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Center (AGCAITC) will begin executing its ambitious program to grant the Cambridge IT skills certificate in the Arabic language beginning in June 2002.

The center’s administration has completed the Arabization and programming of the exams’ administration and material, in addition to special training material for the trainers and trainees alike. It has also prepared the main facility in Amman with all the technical necessities and equipment so that it will be the first in a series of facilities that the center’s administration would like to see spread throughout the Arab world.

This certificate- which is the first of its kind issued in the Arab region- will cover the main software programs used by the business community, governmental institutions, academics, researchers, homekeepers and all segments of society. The programs include the usage of the internet, electronic spreadsheets, word processors and databases. These are the most developed software programs to date and are considered essential for all computer applications.

Numerous cooperation agreements have been concluded with qualified institutes in Arab countries that have the ability to train in accordance with the Cambridge international examinations curriculum to spread knowledge, remove the psychological barrier for learning and bridge the digital gap in computer applications.

The center’s administration is currently studying offers of some Arab governments to implement the program in their institutions and especially those in pedagogy and education. This will be done such that all teachers, administrators and employees will be qualified. Additionally, all academic levels will become qualified such that computer and internet illiteracy will be erased for the next generations. This in turn will lead to the employment of advanced technology in all fields and sectors.

It is known that AGCAITC adopts this program that provides qualification in the Arabic language in accordance with the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) curriculum. The purpose of this is that all segments of society become qualified in computer applications such that language doesn’t form an obstacle to learning. This provides the opportunity to millions from all social backgrounds in the Arab world to benefit from this program.
