The Federation of the Jordanian Chambers of Commerce will hold a seminar on intellectual property (IP) where the chairman of the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) and chairman of the Working Group on Human Resources and Capacity Building (HRCB) of the United Nations Information and Communications Technologies (UN ICT TF) Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh will talk about the IP map in the world, and the status of Arabs and Jordan in relation to it.
Sources of the Federation of the Jordanian Chambers of Commerce stated that the lecturer will address the priorities of Arab nations relating to the main topics of the IP map that is revised yearly by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Abu-Ghazaleh will also address issues such as whether or not there is a different IP map to follow by the Arab countries or if they follow the same international map, is this international map in opposition to the map of Arab nations, and the Arabs’ ability to formulate an official IP map for the Arab region and presenting it in the Arabic language for it to contribute to the global knowledge-based economy.
The federation sources explained that the issue of IP protection is significant for all Jordanian sectors, in order to face the challenges of of economic openness, trade liberalization and globalization and enhance the positives and avoid the negatives, in addition to facing the challenges created by new international economic and commercial variables.
The sources clarified that adherence to IP protection is significant in preparing an environment of investment, attracting external investments and increasing exports while granting them accessibility to worldwide markets.
Sources said that this seminar is part of the federation’s policy of promoting awareness and knowledge in commercial and economic circles.
