Mr. Charles Sha'ban, IT Manager at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International and Chairman of the Internet Committee at the Arab Knowledge Management Society indicated that Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), a subsidiary of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International, has applied to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to be approved as a registration center for Arab and international domain names. It is expected that this approval will be granted during the next few forthcoming weeks.

AGIP has acted as an agent for registering ccTLDs (Country Code Top Level Domains) of clients in different languages.

Initially AGIP began with registrations of domain names in Arab countries (the UAE and Saudi Arabia) in 1999.

The service was then further expanded in the year 2000 to worldwide registrations as well as regional registrations in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia and Yemen.
