Mr. Mohammed bin Ali bin Nasser Al Alawi, the Omani Minister of Legal Affairs, will open on Monday, the 9th of this month, the first international conference on e-commerce and ways to confront it. This conference will be held over two consecutive days in the Oman Hall at AlBustan Palace Hotel in collaboration with the Omani Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Omani Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Arab Society for International Management. A number of ministers, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Arab Knowledge and Management Society (AKMS) ,a  large number of heads and representatives of local, Arab and international companies concerned and interested in this filed will be present at this conference.
 
The conference aims at developing plans to improve capabilities, providing new services and expanding the market. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) was the first to develop the e-commerce through its role in the establishment of new rules and the adoption of flexible tools and standards that can facilitate the implementation of businesses through e-world.
 
 
An elite of world leadership in business ,private and public sector representatives, experts in the world of business and communications, specialists in the field of e-business management, in addition to many law and IT experts and decision-makers in government institutions, economic community and international organizations, will participate in the conference.
 
 
The discussions include many topics, researches and working papers, the most important of which are; the modern organizational structure of global trade, monitoring the Internet, the protection of consumer privacy, laws and practices of e-commerce, trade in the electronic world, how to adapt to the online marketing, management and organization of the Internet, intellectual property and the e-world, and the establishment of international telecommunications.
 
During his stay in the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh has met a number of Omani ministers and officials to finalize the arrangements of the conference and to study the activities of the management consulting of the global trading system and e-commerce in Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International, which provides consulting on the level of the Arab world in the filed of the development of professional and technical capacities for this purpose.
 
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh has also held a press conference at the Omani Chamber of Commerce and Industry hall, where he stressed that the world is on the threshold of a scientific revolution in the field of e-commerce, and that the Arab nation has no choice but to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), pointing out that the Sultanate of Oman is currently preparing, on the 10th of this month, to sign an agreement on its ascension to the WTO.
 
He added that the size of e-commerce in 2003 will increase to $1000 billion, while it was in 1990 less than $200 billion, consequently the size of e-commerce has doubled and will increase from what is globally expected.
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh during the press conference explained the most important issues that will b tackled during the conference.
