KUWAIT – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International (TAGI) and the five firms working within it, will convene their annual meeting in Munich, West Germany, during the period of July 21-28, 1994.
The convention of a series of meetings will take place, in order to share with the general assembly of the group the accomplishments that have taken place by the various companies during the last year. It is worth noting that the group held its bi-annual meeting in Amman last January.
Participating in these meetings, which will be peppered throughout with training courses for all participants in the field of intellectual property (IP), are the members of the board of directors for all five companies, which are Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and Co. International, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and Co. Consulting, Abu-Ghazaleh Projects (AGPRO) and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal (ABLE).
Additionally, associates from various offices will participate as well as the officials in charge of the top oversight departments in the company.
The agenda includes listening to the annual reports of the five boards of directors, in addition to the reports of the top oversight departments at the regional office, and the reports of each office in the group relating to the vocational activities and progress for each office.
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of TAGI, said that the group’s annual convention comes at a time when it is witnessing much activity, particularly since the region is about to undergo major economic changes as a result of the peace process. He sad that the group opened numerous new offices last year in Morocco, Algeria, Khartoum and Ramallah in the West Bank, and that work is ongoing to prepare for the opening of new offices in Jericho and Gaza.
The Chairman said that the various offices of TAGI within the five firms were able to achieve a growth rate last year of 35-40%. This means that the group was witness to a prosperous and fruitful year. He stated : “I see that by convening our annual meeting, I get a chance to meet with people I consider brothers and sisters, in order to exchange views so that we can put a program in place for the new year. It is also an opportunity evaluate all that’s been done throughout the past year.”
The Chairman also wished personal and continuous success to all the attendees of the annual convention, and the overall success of the company.
The annual TAGI meeting program contains a training workshop on the significance of industrial property protection in creating cooperation between the local industries and their development. This workshop comes as a part of the events of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), and will be attended by all IP representatives present in addition to colleagues from the other sister companies.
Professor Eric Hoyser, President of the German Patents Office, and Mr. Frank Jobel, Manager of the Relations Dept. at the German Patents Office, will be delivering lectures at the workshop, which will cover numerous topics that shed light on the importance of industrial property due both to its aforementioned role in domestic industries, in addition to it being a tool to enter global markets without the fear of imitation or violation of industrial property or trademarks. Some of these topics include: the significance of technical creativity and systems of protection in economic development, the main elements of protective laws and patents, procedures of and remedies related to patent violations, and the main principles in trademarks laws.
After each lecture there will be a discussion, in addition to a general discussion session at the end of the workshop that will continue with its activities the entire day of July 25.
It is expected that a number of high-ranking officials and businesspeople invited to the meetings will attend, from various Arab and foreign countries, in addition to representatives from Grant Thornton International, since TAGI is one of its members.
