AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), received the Secretary-General of the Arab
Academics and Scientists Union (AASU), Mr. Ahmed Kamel Baker in his office, to
discuss ways of developing higher education in the Arab world. They also
discussed the significance of sharpening the skills and elevating the level of
knowledge of Arab academics in various fields.
The two parties also discussed a number of other topics, including
cooperation to jointly develop a set of training programs for academics, with
an accreditation mechanisms for Union membership through registration in a
certified professional diploma approved by both sides.
During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that education should
be for the purpose of innovation, not for passing examinations; thus, the
responsibility of everyone to contribute to building an innovative generation
that is digitally and technologically empowered to lead the country in the
future. He added that this goal could only be achieved through effective
collaboration between the public and private sectors, in addition to the
provision of an appropriate environment that acts as a good academic
incubator.
For his part, Mr. Baker commended the role of TAG.Global and its
Chairman, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his unlimited support of education, and his
endless efforts to promote its, and the Arab academics' level.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to cooperate in
promoting accredited academic programs and training courses globally, targeting
at the same time professors and academics in Jordan and the Arab region, with
an emphasis on the importance of developing scientific research, conducting
training courses to develop the skills of researchers and academics, as well as
cooperating in organizing research fellowships for invention and
innovation puroposes.
The Arab Academics
and Scientists Union was
established in 2018 in Amman, under the umbrella of the Council of Arab
Economic Unity (CAEU) of the League of Arab States. It aims to enhance the
status of Arab academics and scientists in the Arab world and abroad, in
addition, to shedding light on their achievements to encourage the spirit of
cooperation among them.
