CHONGQING - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global
Digital (TAG.GD), has participated in a specialized training program for local
Confucius Institutes’ directors , held at Southwest University (SWU) in
Chongqing. The program was organized and sponsored by the Chinese International
Education Foundation (CIEF), attended by 30 local directors representing 23
countries worldwide.
TAG-Confucius,
established in 2008 as the first officially accredited Institute in Jordan by
the Chinese government, dedicated to teaching the Chinese language and
promoting Chinese culture, was represented by its Executive Director, Mr.
Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa',. The Institute also serves as the first certified testing
center for Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) in the Kingdom.
The opening ceremony was held
in the presence of Mr. Zhao Lingshan, CIEF secretary-general, and Wang Jinjun,
SWU president.
Mr. Lingshan delivered a
lecture titled "The Legacy and Development of Confucius Institutes,"
outlining the ongoing efforts to enhance the design and innovative development
of the Confucius institutes and to drive innovative growth. He went on to
express optimism that such efforts would effectively contribute to the
high-quality advancement of international Chinese education and foster cultural
exchange between China and other nations.
For his part, Mr. Abu
Al-Sebaa' gave a presentation, highlighting the achievements of TAG-Confucius
Institute since its inception, including awards received and its contributions
to promoting the Chinese language and culture across Jordan and the Arab region.
“The training program featured a rich variety
of workshops and expert-led lectures covering topics such as Chinese history
and culture, advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), and strategies for
global brand development of Confucius Institutes, in addition to curriculum
development for Chinese language education,” Abu Al-Saba’ stated, adding that
the “Participants also engaged in field visits to prominent cultural and
industrial sites in Chongqing, including the Dazu Rock Carvings, the Changan
Global Automobile Research & Development Center, and the Chongqing
International Logistics Hub Park, where they explored key national development
projects. These visits provided valuable insights into China’s economic
development, educational reforms, scientific and technological innovation, and
other initiatives in the central and western regions.”
During the closing ceremony of the training program, Mr. Abu Al-Sebaa' delivered key remarks on behalf of the Asian delegation, which included directors of Confucius Institutes from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Mongolia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, and Jordan.
