AMMAN - Writer Victor
Nasrallah Srouji has dedicated his recently released book entitled: “The Great
Classical Music Composers” to HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman
of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital (TAG.GD), in recognition of his remarkable
life journey and significant contributions to music, art and intellectual
fields.
The book, which draws upon
content originally produced for a radio program created by the author for Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh Business and Culture Radio Station (TAGBC), narrates the life
story and timeless works of the most prominent figures in classical music. It
associates historical narration with artistic analysis, accompanied by rich
musical documentation. The radio program consisted of 64 hours of broadcast
content before adapting it into book format under the same title.
Commenting on the release, Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh stated, “Classical music is one of the greatest sources of joy for
a person. It instills inner peace, uplifts the soul, and fosters harmony among
people. It is also a fundamental pillar of human spiritual development and a
powerful force for spreading love and understanding”.
He went on to add, “I learnt
about music and was attached to it at an early age when I worked in a music
store. It was there that I was first introduced to the most iconic classical
masterpieces and operatic works which left a lasting impression on me. Since
then, I have remained devoted to this noble art, attending concerts and
festivals in various cities throughout my work travels”.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh further
notedthat “Music has connected me with many intellectuals, artists, and
thinkers, among them my friend Victor Srouji. Our relationship, which
started decades ago when he worked as a financial consultant, deepened due to
our shared passion for classical music. We traveled together, attended musical
sessions, and engaged in artistic analysis. Victor has often told me that I was
the driving force behind his decision to write this book”.
In his foreword to the book,
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh states, “It is a source of pride to write in the introduction
of this rich book by my brother and great friend, the esteemed writer Victor
Nasrallah Srouji, who takes us on a journey through the vast landscape of
classical music in a joyful, poetic style”.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh concluded,
“This book is more than a historical overview of classical music and its most
distinguished composers; it is a gateway to deeper appreciation of this noble
art form and its enduring impact on the development of human civilization”.
In the book's preface, Mr.
Srouji pointed out that his dedication to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stems from a
six-decade-long friendship, during which he witnessed first-hand Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh’s unwavering generosity and commitment to community service. He
emphasizes that no other individual in the Arab region has contributed as
significantly to the promotion of arts and culture as Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh did and
still does.
Mr. Srouji also noted that Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh has played a significant role in spreading high-quality classical
music across generations by supporting and sponsoring numerous musical
activities with his own personal funds. He has supported and sponsored
orchestras and festivals across various countries, not to mention that the
French Opera House, Palais Garnier, honored him by engraving his name at its
entrance in appreciation of his contributions, Mr. Srouji noted.
In the book preface, Mr. Srouji
describes Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh as “a visionary leader, distinguished in his
excellence, yet profoundly humble and ever-curious. A man of remarkable
intellect, knowledge, and determination, he embodies a vibrant spirit. From
adversity, he created success, just like Beethoven, and he defied the
impossible; like Mozart, composing his own symphony of life. Through
perseverance and inspiration, he has built a legacy of excellence and
achievement with his own hands, raising the banner of triumph through relentless
dedication, Mr. Srouji concluded.
