“Iraq Is Building a Modern
State Where Innovation and Knowledge Drive Progress,” President Rashid Says
BAGHDAD - President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid welcomed Dr.
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, President of the Arab Congress for Innovation, and his
accompanying delegation at Baghdad Palace, where discussions focused on
advancing cooperation in innovation, technology and the development of a
knowledge-driven economy.
President Rashid noted that Iraq possesses a vast pool of
human talent capable of playing an active role in innovation and advancing
diverse development initiatives. He emphasized the importance of investing in
these capabilities and fostering an environment that nurtures their growth and
potential. The President also highlighted the need to implement effective
programs that empower young people in modern technological and knowledge-driven
fields.
“Iraq is determined to build a modern and capable state
founded on competence, creativity and knowledge,” President Rashid said. “Our
goal is to embrace innovation as a cornerstone of progress. Through cooperation
and the exchange of expertise with the Arab Congress for Innovation, we aim to
open new horizons for partnership in scientific research, digital
transformation and the knowledge economy — helping to create a regional
environment that fosters creativity and scientific advancement.”
The President commended the objectives of the Arab Congress
for Innovation in promoting joint Arab cooperation, highlighting Iraq’s growing
experience, particularly in digital transformation, as a promising regional
model. He also welcomed initiatives aimed at launching projects in key sectors,
encouraging private-sector investment, and strengthening the role of youth and
women in driving innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Launching the Arab Congress for Innovation from Baghdad
reaffirms Iraq’s leading position as a regional center for creativity and
innovation,” the President remarked. “We are proud to see Baghdad once again
emerge as a hub for ideas and forward-looking initiatives.”
For his part, Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his deep
appreciation to President Rashid for the warm welcome and reaffirmed the
Congress’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Iraqi institutions. He
emphasized the Congress’s commitment to enriching Iraq’s innovation landscape
through the latest Arab and international experiences and technologies.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh explained that the Arab Congress for
Innovation — the first of its kind in Iraq and the region — reflects an
ambitious vision for a pioneering Iraqi and international platform that brings
together leaders, thinkers, entrepreneurs and innovators from across the Arab
world and beyond to develop practical solutions that advance sustainable
development and support a knowledge-based economy.
